Barbie meets her Muslim match.

Barbie and Fulla. You could say that Barbie has a modern style in comparison to Canada or in the United States. Newboy's creation Fulla, on the other hand, has something different to say. In Middle Eastern countries, Barbie can't go around wearing nothing but a swimsuit. Mark Mackinnon's article has inspired me to look more into how different cultures work, and think of our modern style as what they take as their own. Fulla has been created by Manar Tarabichi, to fit in with the qualities of an Arab. Since Newboy's creation is huge there, Fulla has no problems selling. Fulla has outsold Barbie by a 40 to 1 margin. If it were Barbie in a Middle Eastern country, I don't think we'd be making any progress. Just as big Barbie is here, Fulla is there. I find it appropriate that Fulla has been introduced, because Barbie wouldn't fit into the styles of an Arab. Fulla even has her own clothing set, toys, real size clothes for young girls, and more. November 2003 and October 2005, There have been 1.5 million Fulla dolls sold in Spacetoon, a store in Damascus. Lastly, I believe what Manar Tarabichi has done with Newboy, is appreciated by many people from Middle Eastern countries. Newboy also drew the line that not everybody dresses nor has the features and qualities for one of another.
